Shelly Stroble

President/CEO

  • Started with CSSS at the Chestnut Street location in 1997 
  • Serves on the PA Association for the Blind board of directors and on various committees. 
  • Certified by PAB in provision of social services and prevention of blindness services.
  • Enjoys working with 14 outstanding directors – interesting to see their understanding of vision loss develop.
  • Enjoys working with a very dedicated staff!


“CSSS has seen tremendous growth over the years – from 6 social services clients in 1997 to a high of 102 and currently serving over 55 clients who are blind or visually impaired. Our services have evolved over the years – our latest addition is Access Technology.  Technology helps people with disabilities use their devices in a more independent, more efficient way. Prevention of Blindness has added new screening equipment and several educational programs.”

Prevention/Life Skills Coordinator

  • Started with CSSS in 2014
  • AmeriCorps service member for 2 years
  • Helps people who are visually impaired or blind with support services (grocery shopping and  sorting, check writing, reading mail, form completion, assists with accessing technology, and Life Skills Education meetings, which address adjustment to vision loss and resources available in the community, 
  • Responsible for the direct mail database 
  • Assist with all agency fundraising events.
  • Certified by the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind in both Social Services and Prevention of Blindness

Life Skills / Prevention of Blindness Coordinator

  • Started with CSSS in 2016
  • Spent one year as an AmeriCorps Member 
  • Mom of 3 children
  • Loves spending time with family!!
  • Meets with clients in their homes in order to present services available and determine eligibility, assess  customer’s living situation, explores service options with customers that are appropriate to his/her needs, set goals toward independent living, and assists with coordination of activities of the Prevention of Blindness Program
